With all the strategy games I’ve been reviewing since the start of the year, I was excited to dig into Aspyr and 1C’s Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. In spite of the absolutely ridiculous title, I was excited by the idea of taking on this horror-themed shooter for myself. I came away very impressed with the game’s unsettling atmosphere and tense health mechanic, but ultimately frustrated by the sketchy story-telling, repetitive levels, and, for me at least, one game-ruining bug that stopped us in our tracks about two-thirds of the way in.

* Ideas interesting level of development
* Good use of psychological terror

The worst:

* Abuse of situations again and again
* The fight has just not fit exactly in the development
* Argument is weak as it progresses
* The use given to the echoes of the past could have been improved a lot
